Then there's the Cadenas on a strap, where the contrast of the gold and the leather creates a tougher look. It's cool in a 1985 Angelica Houston smoking a cigarette link in a white tank top, jodhpurs, and black riding boots kind of way. The padlock and leather combination has link an Hermes quality, and it has vintage appeal without being link purely retro. Listen, not to sound trite, but the Cadenas is just chic.

Each part of the case, bracelet, and bezel is decorated with a mixture of brushed and polished finishes, but the polishing, in particular, is more striking than what you'd find on previous metal "square" G-Shocks. That's because G-Shock utilizes traditional manually operated Sallaz machines here to achieve a brilliant link mirror finish on all link polished areas; careful HODINKEE readers will know this approach is identical to Grand Seiko's famed link zaratsu case polishing technique.
